Iowa Wrestling extra to an currently impressive 2019 recruiting course as we picked up Cobe Siebrecht from Lisbon, IA. He took to Twitter on Thursday and declared to the planet that he is being in condition and needs to dress in the Black & Gold at the up coming degree!
I’m pumped to announce that I will be continuing to wrestle and further my schooling at the University of Iowa! Thanks to all relatives, good friends, and coaches who have aided me alongside the way. Go Hawks pic.twitter.com/io0tgkKgPZ

Siebrecht is currently a 2x condition finalist. The 1st time as a freshman in 2017 at 106lbs and once again previous 12 months as a junior at 126lbs. Previous season he went 52-1 on the 12 months and misplaced to Alex Thomsen in the condition finals.
This season he’s bulked up once again and I imagine he’s at 138lbs and is at present 33- on the season and ranked #1 in the condition at this respective weight course.
Siebrecht burst on to the nationwide scene and into the Flowrestling rankings when he upended #15 Wyatt Henson, 11-2, in the Cliff Eager Independence Intercontinental. Throughout the event he went 5- with four of those people wins coming by reward issue (two pins, a single tech fall, and a big decision in the finals). He’s now up to #18 on Flowrestling and incredibly nicely could climb even better prior to his senior season is finish.
For his dominating operate he was named The Adidas Countrywide Higher School Wrestler of The Week by TheOpenMat.com
Lisbon is a small push from Carver-Hawkeye Arena and took a check out there again in September that finally sealed the deal for him. In an interview with The Des Moines Sign-up he went on to say,
“I’ve dreamed of remaining a Hawkeye each considering that I was minimal. I truly feel like each minimal kid’s dream, if they grow up in Iowa, they want to be a Hawkeye. It is like a dream come correct.”
He’s heading to be part of Carter Happel, who is a different Lisbon indigenous. And those people two aren’t the only types on the roster to simply call that modest town “home.” Assistant Coach Ryan Morningstar was a 3x condition champ for Lisbon prior to he grew to become a 2x All-American for the Hawks.
Siebrecht is more than very likely projecting at 141lbs or 149lbs by the time he enters into college or university and normally takes to the mat. No matter whether or not Cobe becomes an immediate starter is but to be observed, as he’s more than very likely heading to have to contend with the likes of our 141lbs starter, Max Murin, a pair of decades from now, primarily if Murin bumps up. Pat Lugo is of training course our present starter at 149, but he’ll exhaust his eligibility soon after up coming season alongside with Jeren Glosser, Keegan Shaw, and Aaron Meyer. Zach Axmear is only a redshirt freshman so I seem ahead to looking at an intense struggle among him, Cobe, and perhaps Murin. There’s a ton of expertise crammed in the center weights, but this is eventually a good difficulty to have!
Tom and Terry Makes have some severe depth up and down this lineup and Cobe amplifies that, so it’ll be enjoyment to see how it plays out. No matter, he’s a superb expertise that will make some severe effects around the up coming 4-5 decades.
He now joins two more guys in the 2019 course that are each nationally ranked at 182lbs, #2 Abe Assad and #12 Zach Glazier. This has been a stellar recruiting 12 months for us and it is only obtaining much better and much better.
Welcome to the Iowa Hawkeyes Cobe Seibrecht!
