Iowa Hawkeyes in the NFL: Week 12 Roundup

The playoff picture in the NFL is heating up, where a handful of Hawkeyes battle to squeak their team into the postseason. It looks like some could extend their season. It also looks like many more could be spending the offseason on the couch.

Let’s start in the NFC North, where the only Hawkeye to see the field early on Thursday was James Daniels. As a guard he normally doesn’t get much love, except for when he does things like this:

Chicago only beat a trash Detroit team by 7!

Micah Hyde had 3 total tackles (2 solo) in a win over Jacksonville. He was also involved in a weird bench-clearing brawl!

Adrian Clayborn did not record any stats in a 27-13 New England win over the Jets.

George Kittle is inching closer to having the best season for a Niners pass-catcher since TO had 1,300 yards back in 2003. Kittle had 6 grabs for 48 yards in San Fran’s 27-9 loss to the Bucs. Kittle now has 823 yards on the year. Greg Mabin also had one tackle in the loss.

Marshall Yanda got taken off for a couple of plays in Baltimore’s 34-17 win over Oakland for concussion protocol. He wasn’t happy, and returned to the game later.

Desmond King had one tackle in LA’s 45-10 drubbing over Arizona. He mad his hay as a return man in this one, taking 3 kicks back for a total of 87 yards, including a 40-yarder. He also had 2 punt returns for 28 yards.

Josey Jewell had one of the better games of his young career, notching 6 tackles (4 solo) in Denver’s huge 24-17 win over Pittsburgh.

Jaleel Johnson had a tackle in Minnesota’s win over Green Bay. Josh Jackson had a career-high eight tackles in the loss for his team; as Mike Daniels continues to sit on the sideline. Some former Iowa tackles, Brian Bulaga and Riley Reiff played ok in the game. Reiff definitely looked better a week after getting eaten alive by Khalil Mack.

Go Vikings.
