If Tampa sounds like a familiar location to Hawkeye fans, that’s because it is: No bowl has hosted Iowa more often than the Outback Bowl.

Des Moines Register reporters Chad Leistikow and Chris Cuellar talk about the Iowa football team’s selection for the Outback Bowl.

The Iowa Hawkeyes will be playing postseason football in Florida.

If that sounds familiar, it’s because the Hawkeyes have played more bowl games in Florida (11) than any other state.

Most of their trips have been recent, too. They’ve traveled to the Sunshine State ten times since 2000.

The New Year’s Day game against Mississippi State will be Iowa’s sixth trip to the Outback Bowl, all in the past fifteen years. No other bowl has hosted the Hawkeyes more often — the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California, has also showcased the Hawkeyes six times.

But, with 32 bowl appearances, Iowa has traveled to plenty of locations besides Florida and Southern California. Check out the map below to revisit each of Iowa’s bowl games. Then, take a look at our travel guide and start planning your own bowl trip.
