IOWA Town — University of Iowa head wrestling coach Tom Makes introduced Tuesday that Austin DeSanto will serve a a single-match suspension when the Hawkeyes host Maryland on Friday.
DeSanto was penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct subsequent Iowa’s dual win at Nebraska on Sunday.
“Austin understands his habits on and off the mat is a reflection of this college and program, and I am really delighted with his response to this make any difference. I know he is eager to go forward,” Makes stated.
“I want to apologize to my opponents and teammates for my steps on the mat. I know they are disrespectful and there is no justification,” DeSanto stated. “I take the outcomes of my habits and the decision of coach Makes, and have assured my teammates and coaches that I will far better depict our crew when I return.”
DeSanto is 14-1 and ranked 3rd in the state at 133 pounds.
