Cullowhee, N.C. – Western Carolina will face its first nationally ranked opponent of the 2018-19 season as the Catamounts face No. 23 Iowa on Tuesday inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena at 9 p.m. ET/ 8 p.m. CT.

The Catamounts and Hawkeyes meet for the third time on Tuesday and the first in 14 years following an 88-75 win for Iowa on Dec. 18, 2004. Iowa won the first meeting 85-60 on Dec. 20, 1994. Western Carolina 1-20 all-time in games played against current members of the Big Ten.
Western Carolina is 3-9 following an 86-59 loss at High Point on Saturday night. Onno Steger had a career-high 18 points, including a career-best seven field goals made. The Upper Arlington, Ohio native made four 3-pointers, one shy of tying a career-best and also led the team with five rebounds. Kameron Gibson finished in double figures for the seventh time this season with 17 points.
Iowa is 8-2 after a 77-54 win against Northern Illinois on Saturday. Luka Garza finished with 17 points while Tyler Cook posted a double-double with 17 points and 13 rebounds, 11 of which came on the defensive glass. Fran McCaffery is in his ninth season as head coach.
Western Carolina concludes non-conference play on Friday against Bowling Green at 1 p.m.
